BIMobject expands product categories to reflect growing demand for EV charging solutions

CTEK chargers first to feature in digital building platform’s new EV charging category

BIMobject, a cloud-based environment, hosting digital Building Information Modeling (BIM) objects for use in digital (BIM) 3D model-based design, has introduced a new EV charging category. This move reflects the global demand for EV charging solutions spanning public, private and commercial architecture, design and construction projects. First to feature in this brand-new category is Swedish manufacturer of EV chargers and associated solutions CTEK, the leading global brand in battery management solutions.

BIM objects are the virtual representation of products and materials that are used in construction and they are essential for the development of BIM digital models, giving architecture, engineering, and construction professionals the information and tools to digitally plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

With many countries and regulatory bodies announcing ambitious 100% zero emission vehicle targets, building regulations have been significantly affected across the globe. These changes have resulted in the requirement for thousands more EV chargepoints to be specified, in homes and at key destinations, like new office blocks, shopping centres and other commercial developments.

Magnus Karlsson, Senior Business Developer from BIMobject said “As we see EV adoption continue to increase globally, so has the requirement for EV charger BIM objects from our 2 million + registered users all over the world. We are continuously reviewing customer demand and developing new categories to meet their ever-changing needs and EV charging is one area that has received sufficient demand to require a dedicated category, as EV charging specification within BIM applications became more common-place.”

Working with over 2,000 manufacturers, BIMobject's solution provides its users with BIM objects in a number of commonly used formats for industry-leading BIM applications such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, 3DS, Graphisoft ARCHICAD, and Trimble SketchUp. These BIM objects are then hosted on the platform BIMobject® Cloud, which serves as a Single Source of Truth for its over 2 million+ professional registered users.

Cecilia Routledge, Global Director at CTEK E-mobility said “We are delighted to be the first EV charger manufacturer to sign a publishing agreement with BIMobject to be featured in this newly created EV charger category on this market-leading solution. BIMobject will help us to directly connect with architects, engineers and property developers during the early stages of property design and we are excited about the opportunities that this collaboration can bring us.”

BIMobject will feature CTEK’s range of EV chargers including the highly popular CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 2 EV Charger. The product is available with single or dual output, single phase or 3-phase compatibility, different power outputs from 3.7kW to 22kW, as well as optional 4G connectivity. The CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 2 is easy to install and maintain, with the added benefit of open integration, making it compatible with all third-party monitoring and payment systems.”
